BEN MONO & IDIOTRONIC!!! H.O.T. / 1992

Undertones Gang Records presents the first collaboration work of the well known Berlin-based BEN MONO (active member of labels like Gomma, Compost, Permanent Vacation or Boys Noize) and IDIOTRONIC, former member of the Argentine techno act KRMPCK. After a couple months of working at distance and after touring and rocking together through Argentina in 2011, they gave birth to this first series of tracks, and this material is so good we are already eager to listen to their following release! H.O.T (Hold On Tight) and 1992 are two solid techno tracks with a “dandy” vibe: Groovy, somewhat dark, but sensual and trippy, with BEN MONO in charge of vocals that contribute in the design of a housy atmosphere.


Two Casanovas conspirating? The girls are already dancing, Ben Mono and Idiotronic are in control!

Watch: Architecture in Helsinki - W.O.W

Architecture in Helsinki's latest video, directed by fellow Melbournites Krozm features the very same animatronic dolphins used in the late 90s, Jessica Alba-featuring, teenboy fantasy TV series 'Flipper'.

In the bands' words: "W.O.W acts as the soundtrack to a film about one man's quest to find answers, and in turn his place, in the natural universe. Somewhere along the line we convinced Cameron to make his acting debut, which involved him swimming fully clothed in freezing water for a whole day."

Architecture in Helsinki are heading off on the final US Tour in support of the ARIA-nominated (for Best Pop Release) Moment Bends next week, dates here.

Modcast #98: Juan MacLean

John "Juan" MacLean is a busy guy. Since his last full-length album (The Future Will Come) he's been relentlessly touring, guested on a number of other records (including Holy Ghost and Shit Robot's latest offerings), turned out a slew of remixes (apparently there are ones for Yoko Ono + Stevie Nicks in the works too) and is working on a new house project, going under the moniker 'Peach Melba'.

He's now back in the studio with Nancy Whang working on a third full-length Juan MacLean album.

This week he's released a collection of new tracks, remastered favourites and remixes. It's called Everybody Get Close and is out on DFA. Here's a Modcast to mark the occasion.

IS TROPICAL - LIES (Leopard of Honour Remix)

IS TROPICAL are set to release a new single on KITSUNÉ /CO-OP on the 31st of October 2011.

‘Lies’ is the follow up to the recent ‘The Greeks’ single with its now legendary video and is the third single to be lifted from the band’s debut album ‘Native to’, which was released in June this year.

The video is directed by Jonathan Leder, the creative director of 'Jacques' Magazine which is America’s only new luxury erotic magazine.

Formed in 2009, the IS TROPICAL line up of Gary Barber (Vocals / Guitar / keys), Simon Milner (Vocals / Guitars / Keys) and Dominic Apa (Drums) have developed a worldwide reputation for their stunning live shows. Taking to the stage in their trademark masks, and cloaked by self-made video projections, they improvise constantly changing soundscapes, effortlessly swooping from raw pop anthems to lo-fi dance songs with fantastic results.

IS TROPICAL are currently touring in the US, where they'll hit CMJ later this week. Following the North American tour, they'll be touring the old continent in November.
